Expanding on our previous blog post, the bridge will cross over a future pond, what we are currently referring to as the West Pond. It will serve as a centerpiece to our newly constructed grounds, ensuring that all structures on the campus will have a consistent peaceful view. We are pleased to be including this new water feature in our plans. This pond will not only improve the visitor experience through aesthetics and practicality, but will also benefit the natural environment of the beautiful Catskill region in which the retreat resides.

By design, the zen-inspired landscaping around the pond will add to the sense of serenity on temple grounds. The presence of the pond and its landscaping will also mitigate stormwater runoff and collect sediments, helping with flood and erosion control. They will even promote the aquatic and vegetative habitat, meaning the temple grounds will strengthen the ecosystem and serve a greater purpose as time goes on.

Stay tuned to learn more about our plans for creating the new and improved temple retreat.
