Winter Solstice Memorial Services:12 / 20 – 12 / 21 / 2024
Winter Solstice, being one of the twenty-four solar terms, has special significance for Chinese people. On this day, Mahayana Buddhist temples typically conduct ancestral worship ceremonies, and monks visit the ancestral hall to offer sacrifices to the great masters of past generations. At the same time, people also organize Winter Solstice universal benefit and ancestral liberation ceremonies to facilitate the devotees. These ceremonies aim to dedicate the merit towards all beings in the ten directions, across the four forms of birth and six realms, including both worshipped and unworshipped spirits and solitary ghosts. It is hoped that through the compassionate power of the Dharma, all beings can be universally liberated.
