Guanyin was once born as a princess named Miaoshan妙善, who was known for her compassion and wisdom. Miaoshan made a wish to become a nun and practice Buddhism, but her father, the King Miaozhuang妙庄王, was firmly opposed. Therefore, Miaoshan had no choice but to leave home secretly and go to a temple to practice. That makes the King become angry, the King burned down the temple, Miaoshan was injured but fortunately saved by a white tiger, and she continued to practice Buddhism in Fragrant Mountain.
