Amongst all our recent discussion of reconstruction plans for the retreat, we are pleased to share that we are also planning changes for our city temple at 133 Canal St. Our community is important to us here at the Mahayana Temple, and we strive to always provide a comfortable space for all who enter. One way we practice these values is through gradually implementing physical improvements to create a sense of peace for everyone inside the temple. We will begin the process with updating the common areas.
The spaces we plan to improve include hallways, restrooms, and the staircase from the Grand Buddha Hall to the basement. These are all areas that have not been updated in quite some time. Although the spaces are functional, we believe that they deserve a touch-up for aesthetic purposes to match the grander areas of the building and create a sense of harmony. Thus, we will be updating them with a zen-inspired style.
We are honored to have the opportunity to better the temple experience with improvements of varying magnitudes. We are also honored to have a kind community for whom we make these improvements. This experience is created by the collaborative efforts of everyone, and our progress would not be possible without the generosity of our donors, volunteers, and other members of the community. Those who feel moved to support the reconstructions may donate via our PayPal or Venmo accounts.
We hope these updates to the common areas will generate anticipation for the series of forthcoming improvements we will be implementing at 133 Canal St. Please stay tuned as we reveal more exciting changes, both at the city temple and the retreat.
